A brief introduction

Edouard (Ed) Landau

Engineering executive with extensive hands-on design and leadership experience, including a 14-year tenure at Microsoft as Principal Program Manager and Principal Engineering Manager, and successes with multiple startups. Over the last decade I have focused on Medical Technology — most recently as VP of Engineering at Movano Health, where I led a multidisciplinary team from early concept through FDA 510(k) clearance and production of a wearable Class II medical device. Background in leading cross-functional teams of 150 people and managing budgets of $30M, consistently delivering results.

I'm an engineer with business and people skills.

Having gone through the process many times, I can take ideas and turn them into products... all the while communicating and negotiating risk / benefit tradeoffs and driving cross-functional (internal and 3rd party) teams to deliver timely, useful, and reliable products.

Status: Co-founding an AI-based learning tool — and open to conversations about the next challenge.

Personal Notes

Death By Meeting

by Patrick Lencioni

I have a long commute and listen to lots of books-on-tape. This is one of the short-and-sweet category that packs a punch.

Are your meetings boring and not productive? To be honest, they usually are unless the meeting organizer is really good. I wanted to highlight this book as it is an easy read and hits on many valid suggestions to make meetings more productive. I have personally used his methods to great success.

Mistborn (trilogy) - Fantasy

by Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson is one of the best science fiction / fantasy writers ever (IMHO).

Risk / Reward

I have found that in all product programs, and in pretty much everything in life, there are always good parts and bad parts. Risk and rewards. The trick is to be aware of them so you can balance them and learn from them. Balancing personalities and outcomes. This is where "experience" counts.

What is life about?

My career initially began with intrigue... wanting to problem-solve and work on cool new technologies. I have been lucky to be able to do so. I am now more focused on what products I am helping create and am focusing on products that help people and the environment.

What makes me different?

One of my favorite quotes is: "You are unique... just like everyone else". In high school, I was dyslexic. I still am to some degree, but I make it work in my favor. I tend to see the box... inside and out at the same time :). With 30+ years in hardware and software product design, I've seen many shapes and sizes of boxes and can spot and mitigate issues long before they come to light.
